Commemorative Book

The Vernon Bicentennial Committee has been busy designing a library-quality keepsake book that will commemorate this special anniversary for the Town of Vernon.  Historic photos from public and private collections have been sought to make this the most comprehensive book in the history of the town.  The committee has been chaired by Town Council member and former four -time Mayor Marie Herbst.  Working with her are State Representative Claire Janowski ( D-56th ), Cliff Edwards, Wayne Johnson, Rudy Rossmy, Town Councilor Polly Schaefer and Steve Wakefield.

The Vernon Historical Society has been instrumental in supplying many of the photographs and also the narrative to guarantee the accuracy of the book.  Photographs are being sought from the public who would like to offer their photos for consideration of inclusion into the book.

Rockville Bank, who also happens to be celebrating their 150th Anniversary,  has stepped forward to underwrite the entire cost of the book, allowing more space for pictures.   Books will be available for purchase at the three Rockville Bank branches in Vernon and at other select locations in town.

.

If you or someone you know, would like have your photographs considered for inclusion into this historically significant project, please contact the Commemorative Book Committee.  A decision will be made as to which of the photographs will make the published version.  The photos should be of any historical significance anytime throughout Vernon's history.  It is important to include names of anyone in the pictures along with the location and date to enhance the historical significance of the project.

For more information, please contact the Commemorative Book Chairperson, Marie Herbst.
