The Vernon Bicentennial Ball has been scheduled for Saturday, October 25, at the historic Rockville Elks Lodge, B.P.O.E. #1359. Join us for an unforgettable evening of dancing, hors d'oeuvres, cocktails, and a silent auction! A limited number of tickets are available for purchase. The Elks Lodge, located at 9 North Park Street, Rockville was chosen because it portrays the elegance of the bygone era. The event will be spread throughout the Elks grounds, in the Carriage House, and in the majestic Maxwell mansion, now the home of the Rockville Elks. At 7:30 the doors open with hors d'ouevres created and served by Mitchell's Restaurant of Vernon while attendees zero in on the unique silent auction items that catch their eye. Businesses throughout the area are contributing an impressive array of prizes that will be sure to draw many bids. From 8:00 to midnight there will be dancing in the Elk’s Carriage House to the eclectic songs of the nine-member Shaded Soul Band, or you can choose to relax and socialize in the elegant comfort of the Elk’s Maxwell Mansion. Auction bidding will close at 9:30, and the successful bids will be announced at 10:45 P.M. Tickets to attend this once-in-a-lifetime event are $35 per person and can be purchased from any of the individuals or locations listed below. Cash bar will also be provided by the Elks. Donna Philipp, Bicentennial Ball Chairperson, says “we’re all excited and looking forward to seeing the many different costumes that will be worn to the Ball. I’ve always been fascinated by costumes and couldn’t have found a better opportunity to express that interest. I expect this gala event to become a source for many pictures for Vernon’s next anniversary celebration! I want to thank all my committee members and other volunteers who have contributed their time, efforts, and creative energy to make this a memorable event!
